“I have this student who has really struggled in her life in terms of having parents who are consistently there for her. She’s been studying with me for three years and she’s missed a lot of lessons.
Her dad has started coming to lessons this year with her. He said to me yesterday, ‘You know, I’ve really noticed that she has really started to feel very passionate about playing.’ And I said to him, ‘I think it’s that she’s passionate about doing this with you,’ and he almost started crying. It was amazing.
So I think that might have been the greatest moment of my teaching this week where I just felt like, you know, this is bigger than just playing a couple of stupid songs on the violin. This is about connecting and about making music together.”
